Hansika in cloud nine

Have you ever heard of an actress making waves in a film industry even without a single release? Or a heroine who has signed three back-to-back movies prior to the release of her debut movie in a given language?

If not, meet Hansika Motwani, a child artist-turned-heroine who is making her debut in Kollywood with Dhanush's Maapillai after making her presence felt in both Tollywood and Bollywood.

Hansika Motwani is more than giggles and gush. Today, she is on every top hero's wish list. Touted as the next big thing in Tamil cinema, Hansika is hard working, focussed and is a quick learner.

“I want to say 'Thank You' with folded hands to my Tamil audience,” says Hansika Motwani, who's flying high in Tamil film industry in recent days.

Acting non-stop has not made Hansika Motwani tired. Instead, her busy schedule in Kollywood has made her happy, for the bubbly actress says she ‘eats, sleeps and enjoys’ cinema.

“Acting in films not just my profession, it’s my passion. So I don’t have any regrets for not finding time to unwind. Also, this is not the age for relaxation,” says the ‘Mappillai’ heroine.

Hansika is perhaps the first actress in Tamil film industry, to act in four movies simultaneously (‘Mappillai’, ‘Velayudham’, ‘Engeyum Kadhal’ and ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannadi’), even before the release of her first flick.

Velayudham is going to be the first film in which she played a village belle, a role totally different from her prior performances. “I play a naïve and bubbly girl from a village. It’s an out-and-out mass masala commercial movie.”

She heaps praises on her co-star. “Vijay is a sweet person and a wonderful costar. He is very helpful and we share a great chemistry on screen. His energy levels, especially in songs, are amazing!”

Hansika is currently thrilled about opening her K-Town innings with Maapillai, which hit cinemas recently. The movie starring Dhanush, Hansika Motwani and Manisha Koirala and produced by Sun Pictures was released on Friday (11-Apr-2001).

“I was little tensed last week, since Mappillai was getting released. But I am now happy with the film’s result. Many praised my performance in the film. I am on cloud nine,” she concludes.
