 Annual festival at Duryodhana temple Venue: Poruvazhi Malanada Temple, Malanada, Kollam district, south Kerala. Location: 12 km from Adoor (the nearest town) in Pathanamthitta district. The temple is dedicated to Duryodhana, the antagonist in the epic the Mahabharatham. Toddy (an alcoholic beverage extracted from the coconut palm) is the ritual offering in this temple. The annual festival is a one-day long event celebrated with the staging of a variety of folk arts. In the evenings, the spectacular Kettukazhcha procession with Kala (bull motif) Kuthira (horse motif) and a decorated temple cart is held. Getting there : Nearest railway station: Chengannur about 30 km away. Nearest airport: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, about 91 km. Poruvazhi Peruviruthi Malanada Temple (Kollam Dist. Kerala) is considered to be the only Duryodhana Temple in the entire South India. The Temple has no idol but only a platform. The Temple also has Karna, Dushala, Shakuni, Drona and Bheeshma as deities. The interesting story about the temple is, Duryodhana was served food and water when he was found tired by the tribes Kuruvas here during his pursuit of Pandavas after they escaped from wax palace.
