 Sivagiri Mutt is an asram founded by the great Hindu reformer Sree Narayana Guru who emphasised the gospel of 'One Caste, One Religion, One God'. His 'Samadhi' (resting place) continues to be thronged by thousands of devotes every year. Sivagiri pilgrimage or Sivagiri theerthadanam, the annual festival of this asram, falls on January 2. The Mutt is located at Varkala, 40 km north of Thiruvananthapuram city. Varkala has a beautiful beach and the tourists come to take a dip in the natural springs here. |
